More and more of us are working from home. While this has many benefits, it can make meeting clients tricky. If you spend most of your time working from home, you might have created a cosy, comfortable office space that’s filled with personal touches and home comforts, which is great most of the time. But, what about when you have a client meeting? Meeting clients away from the office is one option, but it’s not very convenient and may limit what you can talk about and show them. The best option is to make a few changes so that you’ve got an office that’s perfect for meetings.
Creating Your Home Office – Keep the Décor Professional
Professional décor, with sophisticated wooden floors, installed by a
‘Dinesen Flooring Approved Contractor’, walls in a neutral color and smart office furniture is a great start. You can still add a few personal touches and splashes of color, but starting with a sensible wooden floor, and sophisticated walls will help you to make your home office look more professional.
Add Extra Seating Options
If you are used to working alone, you may just have a desk and office chair. This might mean that you have to bring something like a dining chair in when you have a meeting, which isn’t very professional. Make sure you’ve got at least two extra office chairs, but also something comfortable like a
sofa for more informal meetings or relaxed chats once the official meeting is over.
Add a Space for Collaboration
When you are working alone, you might only need a desk. But if you have materials to show a client, or there are elements of projects that you’ll
collaborate on or share ideas on, you might need another table, with plenty of space to lay documents out.
Maximize Lighting
If you are going to hold meetings in your home office, you should make sure you’ve got lots of natural light, and a bright overhead light, not just a desk lamp.
Creating a Home Office – Privacy
Your office needs to have a door to separate it from the rest of the house, to give you and your clients and the rest of your family some privacy. You might also want to think about the office position in your house, and how clients will get there. It can be useful to keep hallways tidy and professional and limit time in other rooms.
Add Some Luxury Touches
A few luxury touches, like a standing lamp, sophisticated artwork and high-quality stationery can help to make the room feel more professional and give your business a successful appearance.
Consider Incorporating Your Branding
If you have a logo or other branding, it can be professional and eye-catching to add your brand colors to your décor. Add small splashes of color to things like seat covers, stationary and other accessories within the room.
Storage
Adding some shelves and drawers can help you to keep the room tidy and free from clutter, so that you are always ready to welcome clients, without needing to do a rushed tidying before they arrive.
A clean, tidy, and well-presented office with the right furniture offers you a great place to work, and a stylish base for client meetings.
