If your children love science, you’re naturally going to want to encourage them to learn more about their favorite subject. However some children don’t like the idea of “learning” anything new outside of school (and sometimes inside too). Nevertheless, there are some handy tips you can put into place to help keep their love for science alive – without them even realizing it!

Teach Kids Science – Get Them Involved with Cooking

Cooking is a fantastic way to get your children more excited about science, because that’s exactly what cooking is! While you’re making and baking delicious recipes, you can teach them how different ingredients react to heat, how different foods make others rise (such as yeast with a dough), and how different ingredients don’t mix, such as oil and water. You can also show them how with a few simple ingredients, you can create something completely different – and delicious!

Go on a Nature Walk

Getting your children out in the fresh air is not only beneficial for their health, but also educational too. So, while you’re helping wear off that extra energy they have, you can teach them about different plants and animals, how they interact with each other, and how the world works for different animals and plants.

Get Out in the Garden

If a nature walk is out of the question, or for whatever reason you can’t go far with your children, going out in the garden with them is a really fun way to teach children about the science of plants. Talking about photosynthesis and what plants need to thrive can be a really fun conversation. Perhaps you could plant a seed and watch it together over the coming weeks? Or, maybe you could build shelter in your garden for the wildlife to use. Either way, there are a lot of different things you could do in your garden to pique your childrens’ interest in science!

Teach Kids Science – Conduct Fun Science Experiments

Carrying out science experiments at home is a really fun activity that everyone can enjoy! You could teach them about chemical reactions, physics, biology in a way that’s fun and easier to understand. There are loads of videos online showing some fun and simple science experiments that you can do with your children. Here’s some more information and ideas on things you could do! Perhaps you’ll learn something new too!

Tell them Stories

Stories are a great way of children learning. To them, Mom or Dad is telling them a story, and they know they love having stories read to them. You can read them books about space, dinosaurs, or even their favorite part of science. The best part? You can turn them into fictional stories if you want, all the while keeping the science facts in place. You could even get your children to help make up the next part of the story with you.

Science can be an extremely fun topic, so why not use these ideas to help your children learn all of the amazing scientific facts of our world – without even realizing it!
